Back Home Story: Schiphol – Dubai – Jakarta [2]

Hello Readers, promised to tell you about my second part going back to Indonesia and here I am! (re-read: Back Home Story: Groningen-Amsterdam-Jakarta [1])

Rise and Shine, Schiphol! Trust me.. it’s not how luxurious bed that give you a comfortable feelings while sleep but it’s how your brain could (really) take some rests.. and unfortunately my brain keep thinking while I closed my eyes.. tidurnya gak tenang banget.. campur aduk antara perasaan seneng-excited-takut ada barang2 yg ketinggalan-sedih-mikirin TA belom kelar dkk.. -__-

Anyway.. jam 05.15-an udah bangun (it’s pretty early since it’s winter dan masih gelap gulitaa!) jam 05.30 udah siap buat check-out.. dan sebelum check-out masih sempet foto2 dulu di mac hahahah *narsis*

narsis sblum check-out 😛

Okaay..pas ngantri cuma tandatangan dan bayar pajak aja sedikit (soalnya saya udah booked full-payment sebelum dateng kesini) dan udah deh.. buru-buru ke lobby depan, nyari free shuttle yang disediain hotel buat pergi ke Schiphol Aiport!

bye-bye room 147!

06.00..right on time.. in the middle of very cold weather saya pergi meninggalkan hotel..hiks!

shuttle bus!

06.20-an udah di Schiphol Airport!

open the locker! 😀

07.00 desk check-in udah bukaa! Okay.. hal-hal menegangkan dimulai.. I really don’t know berapa berat total luggage!!

Si gendut pertama di timbang.. it’s 34 kg! mevrouw kembali bicara “rearrange you luggage and it should be only 30 kg..you can use closed-desk over there” nguik!

Abis di re-arrange saya dateng lagi.. nah now it’s only 32 kg.. okay! (dikasih bonus! Fyuh..) how many hand baggage do you have? Eumm.. I have three? Cabin-luggage, handbag, and this one! Ehh.. disuruh nimbang lagi.. daaan… JENG! JENG! Superr berat hahaha.. beliau pun kembali berkata.. “no, no, no, it’s almost 15 kg! you could not bring all of this! You should pay for overweight! (sambil nunjuk2 koper) this, this and this should go to the luggage.. you can only bring your laptop and your handbag” re arrange lagi isi koper gendut (dan at the end dia jadi 34 kg lagi haha) dan koper2 kecil lainnya!

Oowww! Duit gue cukup gak yaah? Ntar yang ada gak bisa balik ke Indo.. saya cuma bilang, “okay wait a second, I will call my dad” first time nelfon Papa pake nomer vodafone hahaha -__-‘’ dan Papa bilang.. ya udah dibayar aja semuanya pake credit card..

Anyways.. jadi ternyata saya bawa 34 kg si koper gede + 20 kg (koper cabin luggage + sammies) + 5 kg handbag + laptop. ALONE! FROM GRONINGEN LOOHH! Superr sekali yaaa? Hahaha..

Wait! setelah shocked gara2 harus bayar overweight 20 kg setara dengan EUR 272.. penderitaan belom berakhir ketika CC saya overlimit.. kyaaahh -___-‘’ although it’s platinum dad give limit to my card only 5 millions rupiahs/month ..dan karena udah dipake buat bayar ini-itu jadi aja gak cukup! Graoorr! All I can do is turun ke lantai bawah.. ke atm terdekat.. ngambil duit dari ATM (rekening Indonesia) dan menukar beberapa puluh dollar US, Hong Kong dan Singapore yang masih saya simpen di dompet sisa dulu traveling (jaga-jaga kalo saya butuh duit pas udah di depature hall) what a hectic! And the time still running!!

bon overweight dari Garuda Indonesia -__-

tak lupa saya ngirim postcard dulu ke Mama Papa 😛

last postcards from Amsterdam!

08.30 a.m. saya masih ngantri di loket imigrasi!! Thank God! It only takes 15 minutes.. dan pas di meja meneer bertanya.. “ you’re going back to Indonesia? When will you return?” dengan sedih dan nada datar… “yes..I’m not going back..” dan dia berkata, “okay, you can have this (Verblijfstitel) for your souvenir” hik! Hik! Hik! Makasi Meneer! My-very-cool-temporary-ID 😀

Verblijfstitel

Garuda Indonesia and little snow 😀

Bisa bernafas untuk sejenak.. terbebas dari ke-hectic-an di meja check-in tadi.. sedihnyaa gara2 insiden overweight saya gak punya kesempatan buat jalan2 cantik liat2 toko di dalem Schiphol 😦

Boarding time! Guess what?

picture from : http://www.airportsinternational.com/

Setelah lolos, saya duduk sebentar hingga akhirnya diperbolehkan masuk ke pesawat.. saat2 itu saya sibuuuuk bbm-an hahaha cause in the next 7 hours saya harus ‘putus’ dengan koneksi telekomunikasi 😛

21A.. that’s my seat! Duduk disamping saya seorang mas-mas yang abis traveling bareng 3 temen cewek-nya keliling Paris dan beberapa negara lain dan akhirnya pulang lewat Amsterdam. Belanjaannya cyin.. banyak bangeet! Hhaha.. penuh dengan tas-tas belanja ber-merk (yeah..you name it!)

21 A! my seat for the next 16 hours..

First movie: Safety Instruction yang bikin ngakak! Hahha how come you could smile and walk like a boss? You’re going to the sea, dude??? Hahhaha

like a boss?
smile?

Second movie: Just my Luck! Lindsay Lohan jaman masih jadi anak baik-baik 😀 hhahaha nostalgia jaman-jaman SMP nonton ini..

just my luck!

Third movie: I guess it’s a lil bit new yaa? Called Chalet Girl…yaaah lumayan.. intinya cowo’ ganteng tajir suka sama pelayan di winter villa keluarganya hhehe

Chalet Girl!

Selebihnya saya muter2 musik, mainin ipod, baca novel, ngemil, makan, tidur, ke toilet.. 😛

oh iyaa! below this statement there will be my menu while on board! indonesian food.. feels like i’m already in Indonesia! 😀

orange juice!
coca cola + tomato juice + mixed nuts!
nyam nyaam! 😀

and last before arrived in Dubai..

flower? in a bread? flower??

Wake up! Wake up! I’m already in Dubaaaaaaaaai~ assalamualaikuumm.. hehehe

Whaaat?? Cepet bangeeet -__-

Dubai International Airport

BB saya somehow gak bisa nyambung ama wifi.. but! Ipod touch saya bisaa!

orangesaft!
ready to fly again~
what time is it?

snack!
again? same menu? i’m okay actually 😛

from midnight to morning.. look at this beautiful view from my window..

rising!
fly with Garuda!

Touchdown Jakarta! Wohoooooo!

hijau = Indonesia 😀

Mana Papa Mama? by the way.. I’m not going to bring my 50++ kgs luggage alone.. cause in Indonesia we have.. Abang2 PORTER! Ayeiiy! *bersyukurlah wahai orang Indonesia..* Segera mengaktifikan no. hp Indonesia dan contact Mama Papa.. daaaaaaan beliau nunggu di terminal yang berbeda -____- aduuh.. jadi kurang dramatis yaa pertemuan kami setelah 6 bulan terpisah.. #lebay

Papa, Me, Mama and Teh kotaaak di tangan mama 😛

I’m sooo happy! Cause beside I meet my parents.. Mama also bring TEH KOTAK!

First place to visit after arrived… RS. Abdi Waluyo, Menteng.. to meet my dentist, drg. Maya.. Papa jauh-jauh hari ini bikin appointment gara-gara beliau bilang, “kamu udah 6 bulan gak kontrol gigi.. pulang dari sana harus langsung kontrol” krrikk..kriik… eh.. bu dokter bilang Gigi saya sehat dan masih bagus loooh! Hihi katanya gak ada karang gigi! “wah.. disana air-nya pasti bagus” hahaha belum tau bu dokter kebiasaan saya disana minum air kran 😛

Doain semuanya lancar yaa teman-teman.. dan smoga saya bisa kembali mengunjungi second home as soon as possible 😛 *

lots of love,

VCA.

Back Home Story: Groningen-Amsterdam-Jakarta [1]

Dear readers, I’m back! So…I guess most of you remember that I owe you my “back home” story from Groningen continue to Amsterdam, Dubai and Jakarta! Yeaaah.. it’s been more than 6 months ago but I hope you all still interested to read hhehehe.. So, here goes the story..

Time: Wednesday, February 8 2012
Location: Groningen

It was my very berry last day in Groningen especially in Orange Hose (Oranje Huis) my studio apartment where I lived for the last 6 months (since August 24, 2011). My student manager, Stephanie, will check my room whether it’s clean enough or not, and everything stay the same compare when I first arrived. I was panicked hahaha because if it’s not fulfill her expectation then she will cut my deposit (which is 350’s euro) meeen lumayaan banget buat jajan! Ahhahhaa.. so all day long beside packing all my stuffs, I cleaned my room from the kitchen, bathroom, bed, window, every single spot I wouldn’t miss it 😛 (I’m pretty good for cleaning house) hahaha..

here’s some pictures about my beloved Orange House, Korreweg, Groningen.

Orange House
lovely bed

Kursi Goyang
meja belajar +makan

At 9 p.m., she came into my room.. checking less than 5 minutes and said, “Vira… this is the cleanest bedroom I’ve ever see.. I just checked the other room and it was awful!” deeh.. tau gitu gak usah heboh2 banget ngebersihin kamar -__- hahha ya sudah laah.. I’m pretty happy she said that to me. Then, we signed the contract and she will transfer my deposit full-amount! Ayeeeiiy!

That time, still winter.. and one thing I love while winter is to see the snow falling to the street.. 😀 aaahh.. six months too fast! If only I could extend.. I’d prefer stay in this country a little bit longer 😦

view from my bedroom.. ohh winter!

Time: Thursday, February 9 2012
Location: Groningen – Amsterdam

My train to Amsterdam Schipol was at 10:07. So, at least I should be in CS (Centraal Station) 30 minutes before… since my luggage pretty heavy and a loooot.. hhehe! Nah.. I don’t have any weight scale so I’m absolutely have no idea about the weight of all my luggage.

hardly to zip my baggage!

Eh! You know what? I actually (almost) ‘dying’ to bring all my luggage hahahahaa.. from my second-floor bedroom to the first floor.. the luggage saya gelundungin aja dari tangga.. abis kalo diangkatin satu2 saya hampir oleng dan jatoh -__-‘’ Thank God! Kopernya baik2 aja (tips: belilah koper anti banting dan kuat! A bit expensive no problem yang penting awet hehe. Samsonite salah satunya #bukaniklan)

i walk slowly and take some pictures about my ‘second’ home..

my post-box
with other post-boxes hehe
no. 80.. that’s my room! 😀
the electric trash bin hehe
good bye cello! 😦

Alright.. then I waited for a bus to come in my lovely bus stop.. “Oliemuldersbrug”..

4 bags with total 50 kg! fiuuuh!

Aaaahh bedankt, mevrouw! 😀

almost 10 minutes to CS then another Mevrouw was helping me to carry my luggage from bus stop to CS lobby! Dia sampe nanyain, “are you okay, I leave you in here?” tadinya malah mau dianterin sampe kereta tapi gara2 blom beli tiket Saya bilang sampe lobby aja gapapa.. She needs to catch another train after all.. Thank God.. Surrounded with helpful people 😀 I bought my ticket to Amsterdam Schiphol..

24 euro to Ams Schipol!

A couple of minutes later, I already got my seat in the train and my friend, Okky, came to say good-bye.. Okky was one of my friends since senior high school, she continue a double degree bachelor in here & Indonesia.. and suddenly we’re in the same school again.. and took some courses together 😀

in the train.. looks cozy there, are you?

10:07 a.m. right on time the train goes to Amsterdam Schipol. For almost 3 hours of journey.. around 13:00 I arrived safely in Amsterdam Schipol Aiport. Oohh guess what? Another Meneer help me to bring my big luggage from the train door to the floor.. thank youuu! 😀 😀 After that, I searched luggage locker in this airport.. 😀 tamtararaaaam! Voila I found it near Arrival Hall 3..

L-Size Locker, 9.5 euro, 24 hours only

The staff of luggage locker saw my luggage and then he said, “you need L size, I’ll help you to buy the ticket, give me 9.5 euro, you just need to put your luggage to this empty locker” Ok! oh.. and the he said again, “don’t lose your barcode ticket.. you cannot open your locker without it!” So it costs, EUR 9.5 for a size of 90x51x80cm, large (L); maximum 24-hours. Pretty much affordable right?

using barcode to open your locker! 😀
big enough for my luggage!

Okay then.. finished with luggage, I went out to the outside Schipol Airport, find airport shuttle to my hotel. (I save some money to stay in cozy hotel before going back to Indo..hihi sekali-kali gak nginep di hostel 😛 )

Airport Shuttle to Mercure (difoto besok paginya hehe)

Taraaaaa… I slept in Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Airport (Schiphol) for one night.

Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Schipol
147! that’s my room!
Such a warm welcome 😀
work desk
Cozy corner

After take a breath for a while, I’m ready to spend my afternoon till evening in Amsterdam City. Oh.. one thing why I recommend this hotel because this hotel is close to a bus stop that can direct deliver you to Amsterdam City. You only need to find “Aderlecthlaan” bus stop

Anderlechtlaan Bus Stop

I spent most of my time in Dam Square (de Bijenkorf, and some souvenir shops) hhahaha.. bought some stuffs for my mom, dad, family and friends.. 😀 and I went to KFC and take a way a chicken for my dinner and then back to hotel. Although, I’m pretty familiar with Amsterdam (cause a couple of times I spent my free-time in here) but I got lost! Dodoool hahahaha…

I forgot where I should take a bus to go back to my hotel.. cause when I went to the opposite bus stop.. the number of my bus that can take me back to the hotel was not there!

Almost an hour, walking around and searching for the right bus.. then… that’s my busss!! I ruunnn.. and trying to rewind the bus track.. fiyuuuuh! I found it 😀

the bus stop! finally i found you *muuaacch!*

Kapan lagi bisa malem-malem jalan nyasar sendiri, udah gelap, winter, dingin… I just enjoy my time there hhihi.. might be once in a lifetime experience, right? 😀

bus ticket.. cause my OV-Chipkaart already empty! 😛

Ooohh.. hoteeeel.. I’m 1000000% tireeeddd.. and glad to be here again.. (finally after nyasar)

my king-size bed! yeaaaah!

How I love my bedroom! A king-size bed only for me! * guling-guling sepuasnyaaaa * Let’s see, what I did in my very last day in Amsterdam… oh after take a bath, eat my KFC’s chicken, keep chatting with my friends and family, crying cause I don’t wanna go home (hhehee!), and lastly, I posted something in my blog! You might wanna read this old post? Curahan Hati Pelajar yang (Gak) Mau Pulang

Night..night everyone! A big day will come tomorow! 😀

Mayday! Mayday! Frozen Pipes!

Ayo isi air galonnya

beberapa jam kemudian dia pun membalas, “No, I have water. I suggest that you walk to Nijestee around the corner and ask if they could help you straight away”

setelah ngomong sama mba’2 customer service dia pun bilang, “your pipes might be frozen”

krik..krik..krik… APAAA? PIPA AIR SAYA BEKU??? *petir menggelegar* hahaha

“try to keep your pipes warm…and if it doesn’t work call us again, we will send you somebody to fix it”

*ditengah ke-stress-an mau final exam ini ada2 aja pipa pake acara beku… huaaaaa hiks hiks..*

seketika saya langsung googling how to unfreeze pipes!

Om Google emang the best banget! semua saran keluar dan macem2!

inti tips-nya ternyata cuma satu!

keep your room that contains of pipes as warm as possible.

pipa lagi..
pipa lagi..

VOILA!

2-3 jam kemudian.. air pun kembali mengalir! hahaha amaziinggg! padahal udah mikir another possibilities solutions tadinya.. but Thank God! pipa udah ngga’ beku lagi dan kamar mandi saya jadi hangat hahaha

Everything can be solved! dan buatlah ruangan yang berpipa sehangat mungkin 😀 it takes time, but free!

cheers,

VCA.

curahan hati pelajar yang (gak) mau pulang..

Heeeemmm… so.. this is it! almost the D-day!

“i will finish what i start” dan saya cukup lega karena akhirnya bisa menyelesaikan semua mata kuliah yang saya ambil disini.. fiiuuuh!

doa saya cuma satu..

tetep main kesini yaa walopun ceritanya udah bukan tentang Europe lagi 😛

sukses untuk kita semua..

Counting Days to the D-Day!

Dear e-diary,

Whoops! it’s close to the D-Day (going back to Indonesia)!! excited yet a lot of things to do! hoaaah..

so here’s my list about what i have to do / it can be what you might have to do if you’re like me.. (back to your home country after study abroad) 😀

1. Go to “International Service Desk”
a few days ago i went to “International Service Desk” in AcedemicGebouw (Academy Building)..he asked my Verblijfstitel (temporary ID-Card) and did something in the computer.. then DONE! as simple as that..

Verblijfstitel

2. Online De-register to Gemeente
well, i just need to inform Gemeente that i’m going back to my home country. you can visit the website: Gemeente Emigration

3. Go to Student Support Desk in Zernike Campus
just re-check whether your host university already have a complete address of your home university or not.. because they will mail your transcript! That’s really important, isn’t it? 😀

4. Close your bank account
tips from my Mexican friend: leave your money as minimum as possible, because she left 2 euros, and the bank took it for them! ahhaaha
well, this process not take much time.. you can do this a-day or two-days before you go.

4. Pack my things!
This was the hardest thing I’ve ever done until now.. well, i love packing actually.. but bring it from my flat to Pak Basuki’s house is not that easy. Today’s weather was -19°C..

not a good sign

i went outside and brought that box to the ground floor (i live on the second floor) then across the street and wait for the bus. Change bus in Centraal Station and continue the journey.. that box was really heavy (consist of books and clothes) 😛

covering with plastics.. 🙂
the box is ready to go!
take a breath for awhile..looongg way to goo!

Thank GOD! after getting off from the bus.. Pak Basuki saw me… then he helped me brought my box 😛 hhihi terima kasih banyak Pak!

info: large Praxis Box (85 liter) = 40 euros; medium Praxis Box = 30 euros. (8-9 weeks shipping). unlimited weight. directly deliver to your house. contact me if you want to know the CP! 🙂

I stayed for awhile with Pak Basuki and his wife… (terima kasih untuk teh hangat dan cemilan khas Indonesia-nya 😀 ) talked about groningen, their family, and my current condition & future plan.. the interesting part was..

Pak Basuki’s wife: “biasanya orang Indonesia itu dibilangin suruh dateng jam 12, jam karet.. yaa lebih2 30 menit.. eh ini tumben tempat waktu.. wah kamu cocok tinggal di Belanda berarti, budaya Belanda-nya udah ada..”

Me: *giggle* (she never met my super-on-time Dad hehehe.. my behavior is pretty much influenced by him).

5. Unsubscribe Pathe! Unlimited
I joined Pathe! unlimited.. with that card you can free to watch movies in the cinema everydaaay! isn’t it soooooo tempting? 😀
tips: teriminate your account 2 months before you go.. because it takes 1 month for processing.

6. Terminate your internet service
well, in here i live in a housing that much more similar like a studio apartment. So, i have to arrange the internet connection by myself. and.. same like no.5 i should call the provider to terminate my contract, the contract will be terminate exactly 1 month after i called them and i have to send the modem back to them. 🙂

7. My bike…SOLD!
Remember my new partner after i left Mylo (My Valuable Hero) in Jakarta? you forgot? okay.. introduce my partner in here.. his name is Cello (Cycling Wherever You Go) 😛 I bought him a few months ago.. well, i rarely spend my time with him cause I’d prefer to go by bus 😛

annddd.. because it’s impossible and i don’t want to bring him home.. so, i made an announcement on information board in my housing.. and two hours later, somebody e-mail me.. and interested to buy my bike! cihuuuuy! that day, at night.. he bought it! Although, I’m a bit sad.. but I’m happy after-all because the new owner is kind ( i think so) and i hope Cello happy with him miihihihihi 😀

my only one cello

8. Print e-ticket & hotel confirmation
humm.. i already bought my ticket and it’s a morning flight soo.. i decided to stay 1 night in Amsterdam. I should print both of the e-ticket and hotel confirmation. (no more backpacking for my last day in Nederland) huhuy! 😛

6 days! 6 days! mom dad..i’m going hoooomeeeeeeeeee! 😀
